While chiropractic spinal manipulation has proven to be a fantastic tool to manage back pain, sometimes further intervention is needed for tough cases. One of the options that can help is spinal decompression.

Spinal decompression is a motorized traction that works by gently stretching the spine. This gentle stretch takes the pressure off of the spinal discs which cushion between each vertebrae. By stretching and taking pressure off the discs, a negative pressure is created internally which helps to retract any bulges or herniations in the disc. By retracting the bulges or herniations, pressure is then taken off the nerves. This negative pressure also allows for fluids and nutrients to enter the disc which helps to promote healing.

Spinal Decompression has been shown to treat:

- Back pain

- Neck pain

- Sciatica

- Spinal stenosis

- Bulging/herniated discs

Your Rochester chiropractor at Rush-Henrietta Family Chiropractic offers spinal decompression right in our office. Our office in Rochester, NY uses the Back on Trac spinal decompression unit. The benefits of this unit is that it allows for lateral flexion movement and not just straight decompression. This lateral flexion allows for maximum pressure relief from a particular side - for instance if you only have sciatica symptoms on the right side, by laterally flexing and decompressing to the left, more pressure is taken off the nerves. Our office has the only unit of its kind in New York State outside of New York City!
